Pakistan backs sea disaster plan
PAKISTAN’S prime minister Shaukat Aziz has approved in principle the proposed National Marine Disaster Contingency Plan, drawn up in the wake of the 2003 Tasman Sprit oil spill and marine pollution case (above). The plan, which comprehensively covers all aspects of marine disasters, including combating oil spills as well as search and rescue and salvage operations, writes AR Siddiqi.
