Room for improvement Canal expands
A VESSEL sits behind the Pedro Miguel locks of the Panama Canal while maintenance work is completed. Panama has begun work on an expansion of the canal, costing more than $5bn, that is to be finished by 2014. The effort to improve the canal linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans is the largest and costliest in its history. Bloomberg
