Testing time First SSW Super 1000 begins sea trials

THE container vessel Anne Sibum has undertaken sea trials in the German Bight. The 1,036 teu newbuilding is the first unit of the new SSW Super 1000 type developed by the SSW Schichau Seebeck yard in Bremerhaven. The Anne Sibum is scheduled for delivery this week to Haren/Ems-based Bernd Sibum. Sibum has, meanwhile, ordered a total of four units of the design and reserved two options, which are all due for delivery until the end of 2009. The Anne Sibum is the first newbuilding completely constructed by SSW shipyard after a break of five years. Ralf Witthohn
