Textainer takes over Capital Lease business
CONTAINER leasing company Capital Lease has been sold to a fund advised by DVB Bank for an undisclosed sum, writes Katrin Berkenkopf. The fleet of 500,000 teu, which puts it at number eight among the world’s box leasing fleet, will in future be managed by former competitor Textainer.“The acquisition of Capital Lease means that we can decisively expand our market position as a container box financier,” said Dagfinn Lunde, board member in charge of DVB Bank’s shipping division.The bank set up its container business unit in late 2003 and had already developed into a leading international player, Mr Lunde said. Last year, the unit arranged financing of the acquisition of a container portfolio from Florens, a subsidiary of Cosco Pacific.
