US west coast ports strike threat is averted
INDUSTRIAL action that could have shut down the largest port complex in North America yesterday has been averted for the time being, with clerical workers affiliated to the International Longshore and Warehouse Union considering last-minute proposals from employee negotiators, writes David Osler.
