UKRAINE’S president Viktor Yushchenko won parliamentary backing for his choice of foreign minister, but an Orange Revolution ally broke ranks to serve in the cabinet that now contests his leadership. Yushchenko offered a compromise candidate, former economy minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, after parliament rejected his initial nominee for foreign minister.
