Longer trains but a long downturn ahead for DB
WHEN Deutsche Bahn announced the first successful test of a 1,000 m long freight train last week, all seemed in order in the world of Germany’s logistics giant. DB and Netherlands-based Keyrail test-drove a record-length train along the Betuwe route between Rotterdam and Oberhausen. So far, DB operates trains with a maximum length of 750 m.
