Medal honour for Lloyd’s List’s Michael Grey
LLOYD’S List columnist and former editor Michael Grey was yesterday awarded the Merchant Navy Medal for services to marine journalism and merchant seafaring. He received the award from Admiral Lord West, patron of the medal, at a ceremony at St Michael Paternoster Royal in the City of London, by permission of the Mission to Seafarers. Lord West, pictured (left) with Mr Grey, told those present there was an “element of sea blindness in the UK”, particularly as far as the Merchant Navy was concerned. He said he hoped the medal would raise the profile of the Merchant Navy and the vital role it played both at sea and ashore. In all, 11 medals were awarded during the ceremony.
