Royal recognition Middleton receives CBE
ROBIN Middleton was at Buckingham Palace on Friday to be made Commander of the British Empire for his work as Secretary of State’s Representative for command and control of salvage operations. Mr Middleton, who retired at the end of last year after eight years in the job, was universally praised for the unique qualities he brought to the role involving intervention in several hundred casualties off the UK. Arguably his most high-profile decision was that of beaching the MSC Napoli in Branscombe Bay in 2007.
