IT IS quite amazing how often seafarers find themselves as “collateral damage” after some ill-considered piece of legislation has been drafted that has ignored their existence. Tax regulation designed to prevent billionaire tax dodgers ‘resident’ in Monte Carlo from cooking the books for the Revenue seem to cause untold grief to seafarers who live in the UK, but spend an inordinate amount of time out of the country.
