Christmas is cancelled, say UK container ports
BRITISH container ports say that the usual pre-Christmas peak simply isn’t happening this year, while double digit declines are evident in the numbers of trucks entering and leaving the UK on ro-ro vessels. All in all, what is going on in and around the ports sector adds up to yet another pointer to the severity of the downturn the British economy is about to face, as if that was not already evident from the latest data on unemployment and inflation.
