Ambitious Sonatrach goes it alone to crack Europe market
WHEN Algeria’s Sonatrach awarded the contract to develop gas fields and build liquefaction facilities at the Gassi Touil field to Spanish firms Repsol and Gas Natural in November 2004, it seemed to fit perfectly with its strategy of knitting together closer ties with consuming markets to the north, writes John McLaughlin.
