Changes in offing at APL as NOL chases Hapag-Lloyd
APL, the liner shipping division of Neptune Orient Lines, could be set for some major changes if a bid to acquire the Hapag-Lloyd container shipping business is successful. NOL confirmed on July 22 that an “indicative non-binding bid” had been lodged. If successful, APL would be integrated with Hapag-Lloyd to “create the world’s third largest container carrier”.
