Archipelago comes of age
TWENTY-SIX years ago this month, a small, very isolated part of the UK that not very many people had heard of, especially in Britain, became the focus of world attention when troops from Argentina invaded. The Falklands is an archipelago consisting of two main islands, East and West Falkland, and 778 smaller islands covering a total land area of approximately 4,700 sq miles.
