Alang returns to health
THE Indian shipbreaking region of Alang has been showing a definite revival in recent weeks, with demolition vessels occupying 65 of the 184 plots that make up the 17 km beachfront. In the closing weeks of 2007, barely 20-25 of the plots had beached vessels, writes Shirish Nadkarni.
