Tabled QM2 walkway verdict
The Queen Mary 2 walkway trial concluded yesterday in France. Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard (now Aker Yards France) and its sub-contractor, Suez-group subsidiary Endel, were fined €177,500 ($257,365) each for causing death and injury by accident. Some 15 people plunged to their deaths and 30 others were injured when a walkway collapsed during visitors’ day at the shipyard just five weeks before the QM2’s maiden voyage. — Full story Page 3
