South Europe gateway aims to broadenits horizons
BARCELONA, which won seven new liner shipping services in 2006 and saw a 12.3% increase in container cargo with China, was last year forecasting a 10%-plus increase on 2006 volumes of 2.3m teu. And with the award to Hutchison Port Holdings and Spanish partner Terminal Catalunya (Tercat) for the concession to operate a new container terminal, volumes are expected to rise again as the port increases its share of the market in Europe-Asia trade.
