Endurance test Ship reaches Antarctic limits
The UK Royal Navy patrol vessel HMS Endurance has reached the northern limits of the Antarctic ice as it begins an 18 month tour of duty in the south. On board are teams of scientists from the British Antarctic Survey who are carrying out research into ice conditions on some of the remote islands of the Weddell Sea during the short Antarctic summer. Endurance will also carry out survey work for the UKHO to update its charts and other data before returning north next year.
