Malta comes under fire over trial absence
MALTA, flag state of the Erika at the time of its break-up and sinking off the French coast in December 1999, has come under attack from the French shipowners’ organisation Armateurs de France over its absence from the trial into responsibilities for the loss of the ship and the ensuing pollution disaster, writes Andrew Spurrier.
