MIRED IN MONEY

ALOT of people who think as I do have been cheered by the recent remarks of Lord Turner, who cast solemn doubts about the social usefulness of a lot that goes on in the City of London. “Joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth,” St Luke informs us, and it gave additional flavour to his remarks that in his previous career, Adair Turner was up to his ears in the financial services trough as deeply as any of the investment bankers he is now criticising, from his new apparent position of social overseer.
