Caught in a GPS jam
IT WAS a couple of hours before dawn, and we were approaching an Australian port, hoping for the welcome sight of the pilot boat. We tried to raise the signal station, whose occupants must have been making a cup of tea, because it was several minutes before their acknowledgement of our lamp. The pilot, they said, was on his way out, and I expected the master to take the ship closer.
