Greenpeace activists removed from bulk carrier
FOUR Greenpeace activists who illegally boarded a bulk carrier on the Medway on Sunday night were arrested by Kent police last night after being served with an injunction by vessel owner E.ON, the integrated gas and power company. The environmentalists were attempting to prevent the discharge of coal at the Kingsnorth power station in Kent, and had threatened to stay in place for several days. Officers had earlier made six initial arrests on charges of conspiring to commit criminal damage and having an unauthorised presence on a ship under Section 104 of the Merchant Seaman Act.
