Man overboard: MSC Fantasia detached from moorings
A CRUISE passenger had to be taken to hospital this week after he fell overboard from MSC Cruises’ latest newbuilding Fantasia after three bow mooring bits detached simultaneously in high winds when the ship was moored in Palma de Mallorca. The ship pulled away from the quay suddenly and the passenger fell from the gangway. A spokeswoman for MSC Cruises said the company has made an official complaint to the port authority over the accident. Four crew members dived immediately into the water to rescue the man within minutes of the accident. The spokeswoman could not give any details of any injuries. MSC Fantasia was then moved to another berth.
