Champagne moment Costa launches Deliziosa at Fincantieri yard
COSTA Deliziosa, a new cruiseship commissioned by Costa Cruises, yesterday saw its technical launch at the Fincantieri shipyard at Marghera, after the vessel’s godmother cut the ribbon and broke a bottle of champagne on its bow, writes David Osler. The 92,7000 tonne vessel, which has a capacity for 2,828 passengers, is set to be delivered by the end of January 2010, after undergoing fitting out operations. Costa Cruises president Gianni Onorato was bullish in the face of the present business climate. “Despite the current difficulties in the tourism sector and overall economy, we are continuing the expansion plan of our fleet.”
