Push the Buton Maersk Batam in service
MAERSK Line’s new EuroMed service will employ four 3,200 teu Maersk Buton-class newbuildings, including Maersk Batam, above, which is seen leaving Bremerhaven during its maiden departure this week. Besides Tanger, Gioia Tauro, Alexandria and Valencia, the Mediterranean port rotation includes Ashdod, allowing direct shipments of Israeli fruit, vegetables and flowers to northern Europe for the first time. The Singapore-flagged Maersk Batam is the second in a 10-unit series from the Hanjin shipyard. Ralf Witthohn
