THE Australian flag’s sorry decline is such that only eight of the fleet of 268 vessels of 2.2m dwt are bulk carriers, including three owned by BHP Billiton, with another four being liquefied natural gas carriers owned by Shell, writes Michelle Wiese Bockmann.
